We all have our direction, our vision, our goals, no matter what they are, they offer us a place to put our focus and energy and motivate us to keep striving to become better than we already are. As we seek out to accomplish our goal and reach our dreams, it is important to remember a few key tools that will help you stay on track and move in the right direction.
Goals: You have thought about your goals, especially with the New Year in full swing, but have you written them down? Knowing where you are headed and having a clear, specific vision is #1 but then you must write them down so you can see them daily. Keeping those images fresh in your mind will keep them a reality and your thoughts become your reality!! If you haven’t already, create your vision board to help remind you of what it is you want!
Stay Committed: Make a 100% commitment to yourself. Your commitment needs to be one you make for yourself and with yourself, not for someone else. Once you make that commitment, be prepared to stick with it and follow through.
Change your vocabulary: It is very important to have the right mindset when making any life changes and making simple changes to your vocabulary, as we talked about this week. Remember you are not going to be on a “diet” but see things as a way of life. If you want to create long-term, healthy habits, you have to stimulate your brain with new words and thoughts. Do something new, even just one thing, everyday that relates to your goal. Once these new habits are formed, your new healthy lifestyle will be routine.
Take Action: You must do start by taking action! Do things and make choices that bring you closer to your goals. Before you do something or make a decision, ask yourself if this is going to help you or hurt you? If it is going to help you reach your goals, go for it! If not, you may want to think again!
Stay Consistent: Consistency will lead to your goal. Being consistent means you are taking action on a regular basis over a long period of time. No matter what, just keep going. Staying consistent and taking small actions, everyday, will move you closer to your goal. Don’t worry about how long it is going to take but stay consistent and you will get there!!
Being Positive: Having a positive attitude can be the difference between success and failure. No matter what, there are going to be battles to conquer and roadblocks to overcome but that is a part of the learning process and what makes the journey that much better. No matter what happens, keep your glass half full and you will succeed!
Be Patient: Remember this one, we talked about this in depth this week. We live in a society that demands results today, better yet, yesterday. Understand that this is a process and you must stay patient. Results will come if you follow these reminders but you must stay patient and believe.
OWN IT: Yes, Own it! Own where you are and no matter how far you feel from your goals, you must own your current situation, accept it, and from there you can move forward. You cannot be in denial. Changes start from Owning it and from there, your life is beginning.
Dig Deep, Push yourself past your limits: Another one discussed in depth this week. Mind over matter. Know what your limits are but also know when it is your mind that is telling you no. You have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to test your limits and grow.
Enjoy The Journey: Remember, this is not a destination, but a journey. Not a sprint but a marathon. Remember that you are in this for the rest of your life. The decisions you make today are helping you create this balanced lifestyle we are striving for. Keep your goals as your focus and take actions now to help you get closer to those goals. As long as you do things, daily, focusing on the present moment, your actions will become second nature. Enjoy the journey, enjoy the process and remember to pat yourself on the back for all that you are doing!
