Good Morning on this Rainy in San Diego Hump Day! I am kind of liking the weather change, believe it or now. Yes, you are hearing this from a girl who loves her Sun but I am also a lover of seasons. I think when it is summer and not so sunny, that is frustrating but when I go to Costco and see Christmas Decorations and then it is raining outside, that is okay! Getting deeper into fall and into Winter is the time for some rain and not so much shine, that is okay by me. The rain makes me sleep like a baby and can be so relaxing! The only kicker is when you can’t do your usual outdoor activities and have to work around them, aka walking the dog and having to deal with A) a dog who takes forever to go to the bathroom because they don’t know what the heck is falling from the sky!! B) a dog who has all this cooped up exercise and you end up paying for it, repeating the words “no” all day long! C) have to really watch those paws, keeping them clean and dry so my carpet doesn’t feel the pain! Maybe someday we will get indoor dog parks on the West Coast!!??

Other than that, loving the change of weather and would much rather have it rain than just be gray and dreary, that’s for sure!
Time of year to start thinking about our fun indoor creative activities that are still working our way towards our goals! There is still so much we can do indoors. Actually it is a great time to put on those oven mitts and start cooking that dish you have been putting off or those healthy cookies you have been dying to try!!
This is beginning to be the time of year where you hit up the gym rather than utilizing the outdoors for your cardio, I know I know going to miss your outdoor walks and runs but hey, they’ll be there again!! Next, holidays are coming up so it is the perfect time to spend more time creatively cooking, making fun/healthy recipes and coming up with your holiday menu!! Also what not a better time to take on some yoga or meditation! Nothing better than yoga or meditation with the rain falling!! It is also a perfect time for some self reflection or just chill and read a book time! What about that vision board you created or maybe been wanting to create! Perfect time to stay in and start working on your vision! So many things we can do and so many things that keep us busy in the home, yet busy working towards building our foundation for long term success!! Embrace the rain, embrace the weather, wherever you are, -rain or shine- and find ways to take advantage of your time, inside or out!! The biggest thing is we don’t use the weather as an excuse to not move on with our goals! If the rain is slowing you down, don’t let it!! Remember, we are in charge of our choices and our choices will determine the outcome of our lives and how quickly we reach our goals!!
My biggest suggestion, when it is raining, get it done as early as you can!! As the day continues and the rain continues to fall, it becomes more and more easy to just conform to every other individual who becomes victim to the weather and decides to take it easy with a nice hot chocolate, while crawling in bed! The longer you hold off on your essential “you time” the easier it is to opt out. The rain brings about that energy from others… accidents on the road, etc. When it is fresh and early, less getting in your way because your interactions with others are slim to none. Not to mention the roads are quite and less crazy drivers have hit the pavement! You know what I am talking about….?! No matter if you are a morning or evening person, when the weather is raining or snowing, best bet— get it done early then enjoy your evenings with your warm soup and blanket! So much more enjoyable when you know you conquered your “you time” for the day!
Thoughts of the day:
Own your choices… don’t let your choices get the best of you! In life, it is all about choices!! The choice you make today will determine the outcome of tomorrow and more than that the outcome of your journey!! You want to sit back and be happy and confident that the choices you made today are the ones that allowed you to reach your potential!! Before you make a decision, think beyond the moment and think if in the future, this decision is going to benefit you!? If it is, go for it!! If it isn’t, think again!
Thought for competitors…
I read a Facebook post about being out of steam and having no “fuel in the tank”. For so many competitors out there, competitive athletes (figure, marathoners, whatever type of athlete you are) there is a time when you just feel like you have hit a wall!! If you are there, been there or feel it coming on, you may relate!!! This is common in the game of competition and the game of performance! Trying to be your best, take things to another level, dig deep to keep on going when you literally feel like your legs wont let you, sound familiar… I am sure everyone has felt this way recently or in the past, maybe even currently!!
A point when you feel like all your steam is just flat out used up! If we were able to fill back up at our local gas station, we would be there putting that Premium fuel in that tank right now!!!! If only it worked that way!! You may tell yourself you are “done”. This is the point in the game where it is not so much a physical battle, even though you feel like your legs wont move…., but it is more of a mental battle. Here is the point in “competition” that makes you stranger! This is the battle with your mind and building the strength of your mind to allow yourself to keep digging and to push on! This makes you the premier athlete and competitor you are!! Building that mental strength and not allowing that mind to tell you NO!
Let me address a few tips to help you push on…
*Keep digging deep!!!! Tell yourself that the temporary pain is worth it for the permanent gratification that is reachable!! Just Stay on your feet, eyes on the prize and move forward, even if it is at a slower rate, just move!!
*Less thinking and more action. Often our minds are what are slowing us down, remove your mental thoughts and act! Just go and do and don’t dwell on the tank being low or the “done” feeling you have! Remember this is where you are gaining that mental strength to become that premier competitor! This is where many people do give into being “done” but do you want to be that person!!! You have it in you, I promise!!! Less thinking and just move…
*Visualize!! Visualize yourself when you reach your mountain!! What will it look like, what will it feel like?? Define your mountain top and visualize it during every moment of weakness! At the top, these moments you feel now or have felt in the past will make that vision so much brighter and so much more worth it, promise!!! When you reach summit you will remember this post!!!
*No Negativity…Watch the negative words and thoughts. Think instead about all the successes you have had to get to where you are and how amazing you feel!!! Regardless of your moments of feeling “done”, think about the moments that make you feel so good and how the hard work pays off and is simply priceless!! Embrace those thoughts and only positive thinking from here on out!!
*Find ways to mentally get to that next milestone! Find ways to get through each meal, each session and at the end of the day, that is one more day accomplished and one more day closer to your goals!! Mini strategies that you find to help you keep digging, whatever they may be or as silly as they sound, if they work, they work… Keep repeating your strategy until you reach summit!
Remember that if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. You CAN do it and I believe in you!! You are all doing so amazing!! Keep digging and remember, one step at a time, even if your steps become smaller!!! Let’s summit our mountail, visualize it!!
xoxoxo
