We cannot always control what opportunities will come are way and exactly when. So often, people assume that luck is outside of our control. We get upset when opportunities present themselves yet we are not in position to take advantage of them. We tend to get frustrated when such great opportunities appear but yet, we are not ready. Again we blame it all on “bad luck”….sound familiar? … it’s a vicious cycle. Let’s be honest with ourselves, for a minute… We can control at least half of this equation, we can control how prepared we are. When we prepare ourselves for those opportunities, when they come, (and they will) you will be ready and at that point luck arises. Take some time to think about what kind of luck you want to create for yourself? What opportunities do you want to come your way and are you ready? If not, develop the traits you find attractive and prepare yourself for whatever may come your way. A better job? Take classes, build that resume…. A beautiful balanced, healthy body… get out and get active and watch what you put in your mouth…
Here’s a little fable I love that explains what I’m talking about a bit more:
Sam was in dire trouble. His business had gone bust and he was in serious financial trouble. He was so desperate he decided to pray for help. He began, ‘God, please help me. I’ve lost my business and if I don’t get some money, I’m going to lose my house as well. Please let me win the lottery.’ Lottery night came and Sam didn’t win. Again Sam prays, ‘God, please let me win the lottery! I’ve lost my business, my house and I’m going to lose my car as well.’ Lotto night comes and Sam still has no luck. Once again, he prays, ‘My God, why have you forsaken me? I’ve lost my business, my house, and my car. My wife and children are starving. I don’t often ask you for help and I have always been a good servant to you. PLEASE just let me win the lottery this one time so I can get my life back in order.’ Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open. Sam is confronted by the voice of God Himself: ‘Sam,’ says God, ‘meet Me halfway on this. Buy a bloody ticket.’
You want something, go out there and make it happen, buy your ticket!!
