Q: Hey Gina,
I was wondering what your opinion/experience is with the following supplements:
Evening Primrose Oil
Adrenal Caps
Bromelain
A:  I am such a believer in my Omega 3-6-9’s and always use them and recommend that everyone should use them on a daily basis for everyday healthy living!
EFA’s have an essential role in our diet, hence the word “essential”. Studies show that it is recommended that at least 3% of our daily calorie intake should be in the form of these “essential fatty acids” (EFA) and 5% for children and pregnant/lactating mothers! When we are eating stricter diets, lacking in essential fats, it is so important to get in these fats!
What are essential fatty acids and what makes them so essential? EFA’s play important roles in our body‘s overall health. They are part of every cell and control our metabolism. EFA’s:
1) provide energy
2) maintain body temperature
3) insulate our nerves
4) cushion and protect body tissues.
Evening Primrose Oil is a natural, and the richest, source of GLA–Gamma-Linolenic acid. It contains about 72% Linoleic acid and 9 percent GLA. Since it contains the essential GLA, evening primrose oil is highly valuable for those who do not get enough essential fatty acids in their diet.
Both LA and GLA belong to the omega-6 family of fatty acids. The body needs a balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to function normally. Evening primrose oil is great but I would also be sure to get in your Omega 3’s and 9’s a good 3-6-9 capsule is easiest for me because it contains all the essential fats! 🙂
As far as Adrenal Caps, I have personally not used them but know they have been very effective with those that have. They are designed to enhance and promote general health and well being and especially intended for those depleted from overworking, excess stress, and not getting enough rest. Does this sounds familiar?? It is very common for our adrenal glads to get over loaded so if you are feeling this way, maybe try Adrenal Caps and see if they help!
Bromelain is a great supplement to help in the digestion of protein. It is a mixture of enzymes found in pineapples. Everyone digests different foods differently and many of us have problems digesting proteins, especially since our diets tend to be higher in protein. Personally I take a digest all, which has several enzymes that aid in digestion. I would definitely give Bromelain or another alternative digestive enzymes a try and see if they help with your digestion. With the many meals we eat and fact that they are loaded with proteins we can also face malabsorption, bloating and gas, these enzymes aid in decreasing those symptoms as well!! They do three essential things:
* Supports Healthy & Complete Digestion
* Alleviates Gas & Bloating
* Supports Optimal Nutrient Absorption
Love my digestive Enzymes!!!
hope this helps!
